Song of the Day – Wilson Simonal – Nem Vem Que Nao Tem
February 28, 2011
Heard this gem from 1968 on the radio last night and it is guaranteed to put a swivel in your hips. Wilson Simonal is a pivotal figure from the incredible Brazilian music of the 1960s. Those were heady times and he was a pioneer. However, just as he rose, Wilson would fall. Not only did he suffer the indignity of having his fortune stolen by his accountant in the early 70s, but he was dogged with false accusations of being a police informant until his death from liver failure in 2000.
This tune can be found on the excellent Samba Soul 70! album.

Thanks for putting this up! Seu Jorge performed this at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics last night, and he rocked the whole house, all 80,000 of them.
